“Oki Hello, my name is Lena Breaker and I am from Treaty 7 part of the Blackfoot Confederacy, born and raised in Siksika Nation. I am the proud owner of Breaker Dezines which specializes in creating unique beautiful Handmade jewelry, a wearable piece of art. We also offer native fashion clothing and regalia. We just finished an order for a jingle dress for a young girl with the beadwork included. I am honoured to be chosen as the artist of the month for the month of August for Making Treaty 7.”
Lena learned her talents from watching the long hours her parents spent beading and sewing. She is a visual learner who picked up a needle at 15 years old and never put it down.
Breaker Dezines was founded when Lena was 16 years old. She sold her first set of earrings and found out she could sell her creations.
She began sewing when she became a mother for the first time and realized there wasn’t a good selection for boys’ clothes! This is what began her regalia design business.
